How Mosquito Shield Spray Products Work

Everyone knows the saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The same is true with our approach to the use of mosquito control products.
Mask
Female mosquitoes are attracted to the scent we emit. Our mosquito proprietary blend has been specially formulated to mask it and other mosquito attractants. Once our proprietary blend barrier is up, your property will be actively avoided.
Repel
As treatments are performed, a vertical barrier is established which strengthens with each mosquito control service visit. This will protect your yard from any unwanted guests.
Kill
Any mosquitoes living around active areas of the home will be killed on contact with our mosquito proprietary blend. We train our technicians to target these areas so we can maximize the effectiveness of the spray.

I cannot express what a huge difference Mosquito Shield has made in our quality of life. Mosquitoes think I am simply delicious. Other people can be fine, while I am getting eaten alive. I have invested in multiple sprays, lotions and concoctions to keep mosquitoes away. They work okay and then I forget and go outside without slathering myself in chemicals and end up with dozens of bites that last a week. I have used Scott since April of 2018. Absolute BEST investment you can make for your outdoor enjoyment. I live in the country and have 28 Oak trees on my lot with a LOT of other plants and vegetation. Outside used to be a horror story of donating blood to the mosquito swarms. Not only that, they would hang out near doors and when they opened, Inside they went. Really made things uncomfortable when you can't even sleep at night for fear of being eaten through the night and waking up with bite welts. Scott showed up and after the first application the mosquito population declined by 90%. The following week he showed up again and the results were exactly what I had hoped for! We have gone from being swarmed nightly to seeing 1 or 2 a week. Impressive results. We bought the annual program. Not only do we save a chunk of change, Scott is so dependable and so regular it slips my mind that we ever had a problem. HIGHLY recommended!

We are amazed at the results we have had using Mosquito Shield of Central Florida to control the mosquitoes in our yard. It was impossible to sit outside due to the bites at dusk and the early morning hours. With the first application, we immediately noticed the reduction in bites to almost being nonexisting and even after 14 days the bites were minimum. We can actually enjoy our pool area (not screened) without being eaten alive. Our enjoyment of our pool area has tripled since our first application. The owner is a super nice guy and even sprayed our garage this morning to help control any mosquitos in that area. Even the wasp and mud dobbers have slowed down. 01. What other insects will this affect?
We use an insecticide so other insects present when and where we spray may be impacted.

However, our formula was specifically engineered for mosquitoes so it won’t repel any other insects as it does mosquitoes.
02. Will the product kill plants, vegetables, or beneficial insects in my yard?

We are incredibly conscious of what we do and realize how it can impact our environment if applied erroneously. That’s why our technicians are trained to recognize:

  • Plants
  • Vegetables
  • Beneficial insects like pollinators
03. Will your product work after storms?
Yes, we have specifically engineered our formula to outlast storms. With a special polymer layer that provides weather resistance, our formula will remain effective.
04. Is there any environment you cannot treat?
Yes, there are some areas we won’t spray to protect the surrounding environments. Pools, natural water sources, vegetable gardens, and artificial water sources complete the list.

Because water could easily spread the insecticides, we never directly apply our product to it. However, the rest of the property can still be sprayed and it will drastically reduce the population of mosquitoes.
05. Does this product work on all mosquitoes and ticks?
Yes, we target aspects of mosquitoes and ticks that don’t change from species to species.

The killing and repelling aspects of our product will work on any species of mosquitoes and ticks.
06. Will the product harm my pets or children?
Pets and children should be inside during each application. However, they can re-enter the property once the product has dried, roughly 10-15 minutes.

At that point, there are no restrictions until the next application.
07. When can I start to see the effects?
Every yard is different but you should notice a dramatic reduction within 24-48 hours of the initial spray.

With each subsequent treatment, the results continue to improve, allowing you to enjoy time outside without being chased in by swarms of mosquitoes.
08. Why do we see more mosquitoes after it has rained?
Mosquitoes are more abundant after it rains because standing water is where they breed.

Adult, female mosquitoes will lay their eggs in water. Once fully submerged, the countdown begins and the eggs can hatch in as little as a few days.
