Hi, we’re Janice and Tim Fullmer and we’re the owners of Mosquito Shield of Southern New Jersey.
We were very excited to become the 4th franchisee back in 2013, and in the ensuing years to have played a part in helping shape the brand, processes, techniques, etc.
We also appreciate that our product mix has been tested and tweaked over the years. Maximizing the performance of our blend has allowed us to confidently offer effective mosquito control, tick control, and event control with our Satisfaction Guarantee.
Tim and I had worked corporate jobs, and in early 2013, both of our employers were in a state of flux. One filed for bankruptcy, and the other was closing its local office. We were faced with major employment and location decisions.
Having grown up in his dad’s HVAC business, Tim always had aspirations of owning his own business. So, I asked him if he’d regret not taking this watershed moment in our lives to make that happen.
We went to a Franchise Expo, met Michael Moorhouse of Mosquito Shield, did our due diligence, and quickly made the decision to become only the 4th franchisee in the Mosquito Shield system!
Both of us earned MBAs and we have a combined 56 years of corporate business experience. My prior work experience was in customer service, sales, and team leadership. Tim’s experience was in project management, leadership, and engineering.
Our complementary skill sets allow us to run a successful business.
Because we have so much experience in running a business, we can focus on providing the best possible customer experience, while also ensuring a healthy, pleasant work environment for our technicians and office staff.
We believe in hiring people who will represent Mosquito Shield well to our customer base. This means hiring our technician staff members based on integrity, personality, and reliability—we’ll train them on all the technical aspects of the job.
We instill a strong sense of customer service in each technician. After our training, they have the necessary knowledge and skill to properly apply mosquito and tick control treatments on customer properties. Not only that, but they can speak knowledgeably about what they’re doing.
Alongside our technicians, both of us are very active in this business. We personally hire and train every employee, which ensures that every member of our staff takes personal pride in providing excellent treatments and customer service to our customers.
We celebrate every phone call, email, text or online review that gives a shout out to a particular employee, and recognize employees who go “above and beyond.” This internal emphasis on the quality of our staff translates into an all around excellent customer experience from empowered and recognized employees.
Tim is a “mosquito magnet” – the person in the family who gets bitten by mosquitoes more than anyone else. Once we realized, in 2013, that there was such a thing as residential mosquito control service we knew we had to look into it.
Being able to treat our own property so we can live outside mosquito-free is one big benefit of owning this business. Our own enjoyment of our pool and other outdoor activities with friends and family often used to be cut short by the presence of pesky, biting mosquitoes. Not anymore!
After we started the business in South Jersey, there was an evening back in the summer of 2013 where I was looking all through the house for Tim. Eventually, I found him napping on our outside patio sofa… which he had NEVER been able to do before.
That moment solidified in our minds just what a fabulous benefit our service could be for our fellow South Jersey residents.
From a community health perspective, there are growing concerns about mosquito-borne West Nile and Triple E viruses, and many families in our community have already been impacted by tick-borne Lyme Disease. Mosquito Shield is our way of helping those in need.
