At Mosquito Shield of Central Connecticut, our goal is to provide the best residential mosquito control service with the highest levels of customer service, allowing our customers to enjoy their yards, homes and time with family to the fullest.
Owners Wade and Amy DeCesare love nothing more than spending time with family and friends. As parents of three school age kids, they appreciate how busy and hectic life can be for families. Simple, low-tech family time is often hard to come by but is the thing they value most. They always look forward to the start of summer. Most evenings you can find them in their backyard, watching the sunset as the stars slowly start to come out, while their kids try to catch the lightning bugs that dance across the yard.
Wade grew up in Wethersfield and Rocky Hill before moving to Glastonbury in 8th grade. Wade’s family had a beach house in Old Saybrook until last year and Will, Maddie, and Nathaniel loved spending the Fourth of July in a bicycle parade down by the shore. And while, the family now lives in the beautiful farm country of Hebron, they love the distinctive history and beauty of all the different towns up and down the Connecticut River Valley. From the rolling farmland to stone walls hidden by the encroaching woods, as well as the many beautiful lakes, rivers and streams combined with stunning views of Long Island Sound down by the shore, it would be hard to find a more scenic part of the country in which to live and work. They are incredibly grateful to be able to spend their days traveling through the area to service their Central Connecticut mosquito and tick control customers.
Long before they met, Amy helped put herself through undergrad working in a lawn and garden center in Rhode Island. When she wasn’t advising customers on the best way to get rid of crabgrass or grubs, she often worked at the local home and garden shows, helping homeowners create their own visions of a backyard oasis.
Wade started off by helping his father in home construction and helped pay for his college by waiting tables at The Great American Café. While both Amy and Wade have been working office jobs throughout their marriage (Amy in insurance and Wade in IT), long before they met, they both learned the value of hard work and customer service and it is important to them that their kids grow up learning those skills as well.
They say, “Like many families, the pandemic forced us to make changes in our lives. We realized that family time is the thing we value most and we wanted to find a business that would allow us to not just improve the quality of life for our own family, but also make a positive impact of the quality of our customers’ lives as well. As busy working parents ourselves, we understand the needs of hard-working customers who want to maximize time outdoors with their family and friends. We see Mosquito Shield of Central Connecticut as a way to improve our customer’s daily lives and their valued family time with loved ones through effective mosquito control services. Our goal is to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and become the most trusted and recognized solution for mosquito and tick control services in the Central Connecticut area. We love our community and look forward to providing great mosquito control service to our friends and neighbors.”
