Mosquito Shield was founded in 2001 as a direct response to the lack of effective residential mosquito control. Body sprays, candles and “mosquito magnets” just weren’t cutting it, so Mosquito Shield developed a real solution.
Since founding the company, we have researched the science behind mosquito life cycles, tested various products and application measures and determined the optimal visit frequency. Our natural mosquito barrier spray lasts for weeks and grows in strength as the season progresses. When you purchase seasonal pest protection for your Northwest Metro Minnesota property, you’ll enjoy ongoing applications approximately every two weeks, depending on the weather.
Entrepreneur Theron Horn is the president of Mosquito Shield – Northwest Metro Minnesota and Alexander Horn is the vice president and operations manager. Both have significant business experience, excel in customer satisfaction and, as native Minnesotans, understand just how bad our mosquitoes can really get!
Alexander spends a lot of time in the great outdoors and enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, bonfires and neighborhood parties. After dealing with insect bites on his daughter and costly tick treatments for his two dogs, he became involved with Mosquito Shield – he knew there had to be a better way to get rid of mosquitoes and control ticks and he has found it!
Theron has more than 30 years of business experience and has enjoyed the outdoors for even longer. His fondest memories are of the hours spent with his father in the woods or on a boat. He adores his time in Minnesota, where the waters teem with fish and game is abundant, but those memories are clouded by voracious mosquitoes!

We use an insecticide so other insects present when and where we spray may be impacted.
However, our formula was specifically engineered for mosquitoes so it won’t repel any other insects as it does mosquitoes.
