Owners Amy & Brad Resch teamed up with friend and former colleague Sarah Ashpaw to bring Mosquito Shield to the Cincinnati area. Amy is a school nurse, Sarah is an HR professional, and Brad is an engineer. Their diverse professional backgrounds will complement each other in growing a thriving Mosquito Shield franchise in the Cincinnati region. Amy and Sarah are native to Cincinnati and Brad has lived here for over two decades. Cincinnati is a mid-sized Midwest city with several universities, a thriving art and sports culture, and is a collection of many unique neighborhoods in the hills near the Ohio River. Cincinnati is geographically close to Kentucky, and the international airport is across the state line.
Amy is a school nurse and understands the health aspects of mosquito and tick control. Her seasonal schedule not only gives free time in the summer to manage the business, but also provides us with connections to young teachers looking for work opportunities during their off months. Sarah has worked as an HR professional and in finance and accounting roles at Fortune 500 companies and start-ups. She currently manages a family boat repair business in the winter and can bring her talents and skills to Mosquito Shield in the warmer months during mosquito season. Brad is an engineer and has worked on many operation and project management roles with experiences that should bring some skills to our franchise.
They are fortunate to have several great, local chefs with small restaurants in their historic Over the Rhine neighborhood. Restaurants like Salazar come close to some of the fresh, small menu restaurants Amy and Brad enjoyed when they lived in France for four years. When it comes to their favorite local landmark, each has a different favorite one. Brad enjoys the arts and loves going to ballet, opera, and symphony concerts at our historic Music Hall. Amy is a marathon runner and spends many mornings challenging the hills and bridges around the downtown neighborhoods. This year has been especially exciting for Sarah as she cheered on her Cincinnati Bearcats on their way to the Cotton Bowl.
When asked what attracted them to Mosquito Shield, “We were attracted by the business model, particularly the seasonality that compliments Sarah and Amy’s schedules and not being tied to a brick-and-mortar business front. The warmer months are a great time to spend outside, but seasonal mosquitos are not only a nuisance, but they can ruin the appeal of staying outdoors. When Amy & Brad’s daughter was young, she was bit by several mosquitos while playing in the back yard. More than annoying itches, the bites quickly swelled and caused hives to spread across her body, requiring medical attention. Fortunately, she was treated quickly and returned to normal, but this taught us that mosquitos can really cause issues with young children. Outside time should be fun for adults & kids, and by keeping mosquitos out of your backyard we hope to the make the warmer months fun & comfortable for everyone!”

We use an insecticide so other insects present when and where we spray may be impacted.
However, our formula was specifically engineered for mosquitoes so it won’t repel any other insects as it does mosquitoes.
Every yard is different but you should notice a dramatic reduction within 24-48 hours of the initial spray.
